El Primo

I have nothing planned other than a few final tweaks to the work I’ve been doing for the past couple of months. At the end of the day, the company iPhone will get a factory reset and, along with all other other company equipment, it’ll be sealed up inside boxes and shipped out, never to return.

There are parts of the job that I will miss – the classroom, in particular. I’m hopeful that, in retirement, I’ll be able to fit in some teaching and coaching, perhaps at a neighborhood community college or high school. I’d like that.

And I’ll leave the parts that I won’t miss unsaid. Some things are best left behind and forgotten.

My attention will be forward and on the future as I cross the line at 5:00PM Mountain Standard Time.

I just can’t decide if I should go have that celebratory beer on my last day of work or on my last day of employment?

Or maybe I should celebrate equally on both of them and, at midnight on the 31st, turn around and face completely forward into the new year and the new life?

I just don’t know if I can stay awake that late.
